Job Description

 

Whalen Cabinet Co. is a small but rapidly growing cabinet and granite company, serving customers in multiple states, but primarily in Clark County, NV. We sell and install kitchen, bathroom and garage cabinets as well as prefab and custom granite counter tops.

 

We are seeking an estimator/salesperson who will cover the entire Clark County and is most likely living in the Las Vegas area where the large majority of our customers reside.

 

This person will not be an employee as established by the IRS definition, but shall be an independent contractor, responsible for his or her own income taxes, Social Security contributions, general liability insurance policy, bond*, etc. No deductions shall be taken from the gross pay. As such, the estimator shall fill out a W-9 form, and after the end of the business year, be provided with a 1099 form.

 

This is not a salaried or hourly wage position, but will be paid by commission for sales at the rate of 5% of the gross contract. An average contract range is $3,000-7,000. One sale per day on a five day per week basis, from three to five leads provided by the company, would generate a monthly income of approximately $5,000. But as our prices are low and our quality is as good or better than any other in the marketplace, two sales per day can be made.

 

The estimator shall be provided leads by email daily and will be paid a mileage allowance for fuel used at the rate established by the IRS at $0.56˝ per mile**. Estimator can expect to drive up to 100 miles per day. Reimbursement shall be calculated and paid by adding the mileage on the company’s GPS for the preferred and suggested path from estimate to estimate. Estimator is free to establish his or her own path. However, reimbursement will be paid weekly by the mileage calculated by the company. Commissions shall be paid on the 15th and 30th of each month for sales completed by the 10th and 25th of that month.

Requirements: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and follow-up skills. Highly self-motivated. Ability to pass drug, DMV and background screens. Must have reliable transportation and current state mandated insurance. Must have laptop computer. Estimating experience a plus, but not a requirement.

* A security bond in the amount of $10,000 shall be required of the salesperson. The company may assist in acquiring this bond and be repaid from future commissions.

**At the above fuel reimbursement rate, a 100 mile day would generate a reimbursement of $56.50. If the salesperson drives a high MPG car, perhaps getting as much as 30 MPG, the actual fuel cost at today's cost per gallon would run only about $10-12. Therefore, an additional $40+ weekly income would be generated.
